Deli Meat Pretzel Bun Sandwich

A very easy sandwich made up of a pretzel bun, deli meat, cheese and dill pickles(optional). This type of sandwich was first introduced to our family by my little sister Alina. From the first time we had them at one of our family gatherings, we couldn’t forget about them since. They are very simple to put together and are quite filling. They can be eaten cold but we like to toast them in the oven and serve them hot with melted gooey cheese.

Adding slices of deli pickles is optional if you are not a fan of pickles. We are, so i add them and we love the sour-ish flavor and crunch they add to the sandwich.

No tartar sauce? You can use mayo instead, i however like tarter sauce more.

Ingredients:

Pretzel buns

Deli meat (i like to use 2 types)

Tarter sauce (or Mayo)

American cheese (or your favorite cheese)

Pickles (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Cut Pretzel buns in half.
  2. Spread tarter sauce on each side
  3. Add 2-3 slices of deli meat to the bottom side of the bun (i use 1 turkey, 1 ham)
  4. Add pickles
  5. Top with a slice of cheese.
  6. Place the top of the bun on top and secure with a toothpick if desired.
  7. Place all the sandwiches on a baking sheet and bake on the middle rack in a preheated oven of 350F for 10-12 minutes or until the cheese melts and the meat is heated through. (each oven varies) If the caps get too dark before the cheese melts, place foil on top of the pan and continue to bake a few more minutes.
