Crispy Flaky Fried Shrimps

One good shrimp recipe is not enough, two good shrimp recipes is not enough, and neither is three. Therefore i already have these garlic & parsley shrimps recipe uploaded, Ruth’s Chris BBQ shrimps, bang bang shrimps and i keep developing more because we love shrimps around here and i enjoy to prepare it differently each time we have shrimps because that’s what makes it fun to cook for me and fun to eat. These crispy fried shrimps are the perfect appetizer for home or any other occasion.
Ingredients:
1lb Jumbo Shrimps (peeled and de-veined)
1/3 Cup Plain Buttermilk
1/4tsp Ground Paprika
1/2tsp Onion Salt (i used Trader Joe’s brand)
1/2tsp Garlic Powder
1tsp Salt
1/4tsp Black Pepper
1 large Egg
Coating:
3/4cup All purpose Flour
3Tbsp Corn Starch
1/4ts Ground Paprika
1/4tsp Onion Salt (Trader Joe’s)
1/4tsp Garlic Powder
1/4tsp Salt
3-4 Cups of grapeseed Oil for Deep frying (vegetable oil is ok)
The bigger the pot you use, the more oil you’ll need. I recommend using a smaller pot and do more batches rather than fewer batches but using up and wasting more oil. The choice is yours.

Instructions:
In a deep bowl combine shrimps, buttermilk, egg, and the seasonings listed such as paprika, garlic powder, Trader Joe’s onion salt, salt and pepper. Mix well to combine, cover with plastic wrap and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, in a different dish combine all the coating ingredients such as flour, corn starch, paprika, onion salt, garlic powder and salt.
In a small/medium sized pot, preheat 3-4 cups of oil. (You’ll know your oil is ready for frying when you place a wooden spoon inside and you see many little bubbles around the spoon. If you don’t see that, do not add shrimps, continue preheating.)
Once your oil is preheated, dip each shrimp into the flour coating and deep fry in the oil until they are golden brown in color. Do this in batches, do NOT add too many shrimps at once.
Once your first batch is done, transfer the shrimps to a dish lined with a paper towel to absorb access oils and repeat with the remaining shrimps.
If you own a deep fryer, add oil and preheat to about 350F and fry in batches until the shrimps are golden brown in color.
Serve with cocktail sauce, tarter sauce, aioli, or any of your favorite dipping sauces. My kids enjoyed them with Chik-Fil-A sauce.
