Cooking Dulce de Leche in the Instant Pot in 30min
Instant Pot Dulce De Leche is the most foolproof way to make dulce de leche EVER! Making gorgeous, thick, sweet dulce de leche in 30 minutes using your pressure cooker is so easy!
Buying pre-cooked dulce de leche in the stores can get a little spendy especially if you need a lot of it at once like baking for a wedding or a special occasion. Cooking it at home in your instant pot will not only save you a trip to the store, it’ll save you money and TIME!! we’re always short on time..
Instead of cooking condensed milk stove top (which you CAN do for 2-3 hours) you can get the same results in the instant pot in a fraction of the time.. the taste does not change.
Don’t have an instant pot? here’s a link. You need one! (I’m not getting paid to advertise, i just truly LOVE this kitchen electric!) If you have no room for storage, get rid of your rice cooker, slow cooker, yogurt maker, pressure cooker because this ONE pot has ALL of those options and uses less storage space. Did i mention delay start and auto shut off? Yeah. Thing thing is awesome.
There is no jars transferring in this way of cooking, no mess besides leftover residue line on the pot after it’s done cooking. I’ll get to that in a minute. The benefits of cooking in the can is that it’ll stay fresh so much longer without developing sugar crystals, you can cook in advance and keep it in your pantry for later use.
Clean up: Don’t stress about the residue line, just simply use a drop of lemon essential oil and everything will come right off with one wipe of a sponge. Don’t have lemon essential oil? Use any cooking oil. It’ll act the same way just maybe a little longer and more wipes compared to the lemon oil.
Instructions:
Peel all of the labels off the cans.
Add the rack on the bottom of the pot and place 4 cans of condensed milk.
Fill the pot with water until the cans are fully submerged.
Close lid and turn valve to sealing. Press pressure cook, set HIGH temperature, and set timer for 30 minutes. (If you want your dulce de leche to be a deeper gold color, set time to 40 min)
Release pressure and carefully take the cans out of the water using a jar lifter.
Allow the cans to cool completely before opening to avoid bursting.
How to store Dulce de Leche:
Unopened cans of dulce de leche can be stored at room temperature for up to 3 months.
Opened cans should be stored in the refrigerator, covered or in an airtight container for 2-3 weeks. Consider buying these silicone stretch lids for all kinds of open cans and jars to preserve freshness longer.
