Golden Key Cake Pops

These cake pops came together from the scraps of my Golden key cake. Using the leftover scraps and adding just 2 more other ingredients makes these cake pops different than the cake itself and they’re nice to enjoy as individual desserts. They’re quick and easy to put together and you can make them with varies options. I personally love nuts in desserts so to these cake pops i add toasted hazelnuts, however you can substitute with raisins or chocolate chips or chunks, or any dry fruit. You can also not add anything and leave them as mini golden key cake bites, whatever you prefer.

This recipe i am sharing is based off of the scraps that were leftover from the cake that was made however, if you’d like to just make these without the cake, the recipe for the dough you can find here. And the recipe for the cream you can find here.

Ingredients:

about 3cups cake dough

about 1-1 1/2cup Dulce de Leche cream (reserved from golden key cake)

2-3tsp of Rum (optional, but highly recommend)

1/2 cup Toasted Hazelnuts

Instructions:

1.Rip the dough into small piece chunks (mine was about 3 cups)

2. Add 2-3tsp of rum to the reserved cream (from the cake) mix well and add to the dough.

3. Mix the dough and cream together, then add the toasted hazelnuts(chopped to small pieces) and mix again until incorporated.

4. Form small balls with your hands or use a cookie scoop if you have one and dredge the cake balls into any dry mix you come up with. ( I used crushed waffles, if you don’t have waffles, you can use cocoa powder, powdered sugar, crushed nuts, crushed cookies etc..)

These are good in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Enjoy!
