Cherry Tomatoes with Cheese Salad

This salad is very simple to make and can easily be made hours or even the day before serving. It is very popular among Russian/Ukrainian catering companies, you will most likely see this salad at Slavic weddings or church potlucks.  Usually this salad is made with shredded mozzarella cheese but really you can you any shredded cheese. My sister Inna recommended trying this Mexican Blend and I really liked it. The different cheeses give it that extra flavor that just a plain tomato salad can totally use. A little tang of fresh garlic and a spoon of mayonnaise and you have yourself an easy cheesy side salad to any meal.


Cherry tomatoes

Shredded Mexican Cheese blend (or your favorite cheese)

Fresh pressed garlic


For this salad you don’t need exact proportions, it just really depends how much salad you are making, and if you’re a cheese lover, you can add more cheese, if not then adjust it to your likings. Same thing goes for the garlic, you can add more if you want but remember, you don’t want to overpower this salad with too much garlic, just enough to give it a little boost of flavor and that’s it. For the amount that I have in my plate,(picture below) I only used 1 clove.


Add all of the ingredients to one bowl and mix well to combine.

You can serve right away or cover with plastic wrap and store in the fridge until ready to serve. Mix salad again right before serving.


Garnish with green onions if desired.
