Lazy Sweet Cinnamon Knots

I call these lazy because you don’t actually need to make the dough yourself. It is store bought dinner rolls, (who doesn’t like to skip a step or two here n there right?) but you can be creative with the dough and make a number of different recipes. My two favorite are these cinnamon knots and savory garlic dinner rolls. Just dipping the dough into crystal sugar and cinnamon mix, form knots and bake! These require so little effort but make your house smell like a bakery.  Well, and it also makes you look like a professional chef is in the kitchen because you just cant make mistakes here. (Unless you burn them in the oven, in that case put your kitchen timer into use).

You will need:

Thawed dinner rolls

3/4 cup crystal sugar

1/4 cup cinnamon (add more if you like)

Spray pan with cooking spray, place the frozen rolls in the pan and cover with a plastic wrap sprayed with cooking spray to keep it from sticking to the dough. Let it rise 3-5 hours. Actual time depends on the temperature of your kitchen. Preheat oven to 350F.

Mix the sugar and cinnamon together. Lightly oil your hands and roll a strip from each piece. Then coat the strip of doe on all sides and tie a knot. Dip the top and sides of the knot into the mix again if needed.

Let them rise again before baking. They need to almost double in size once more.

Bake at 350F for 15-20 minutes.

You can enjoy them right away with a glass of milk, cup of tea or coffee. We like to cut the knots in half and fill them with whatever filling we come up with. Some of our favorites are cream cheese and jam, butter and jam or nutella.

Enjoy!

Why did I not know about this earlier? My husband is Russian and he loves pyroshky but I don’t know how to make them, I used this cheat recipe and he was amazed, he said it reminded him of his grandma. It was a score. Will make again for sure.
