Rhodes Bake-N-Serv Sweet Cinnamon Knots (Frozen Rolls)

Easy and delicious dessert idea using frozen Rhodes dinner rolls and turning them into soft sweet cinnamon knots. It is one of my favorite freezer items to pick up from the grocery store. You can make so many different recipes with the same dough including sweet and savory. I personally love making these garlic and herb soft dinner rolls. It may not be homemade dough but we all love to skip a step here n’ there and there is nothing like hot fresh rolls coming out of your oven.

These sweet cinnamon knots require so little effort but make your house smell like a bakery. It is almost like having small portion cinnamon rolls without the cream cheese frosting. Although, you can totally make the frosting as a bonus if you wish, it won’t ruin the dish.

We normally skip the icing and just enjoy warm cinnamon knots with a glass of milk. However once they cool down or if we ever have any leftover for the next day, my kids love to cut them in half and spread nutella or jam on the inside. My personal preference is cream cheese and apricot jam with a cup of tea. Delicious!

Do i have to use up the entire bag at once?

You do not have to, the wonderful thing about Rhodes dinner rolls is that each ball of dough is individually frozen so you can take out and thaw as many as you want to bake. Tightly seal the rest or transfer into a freezer ziploc bag and save for later.

What are the best dinner rolls to buy?

I personally love Rhodes yeast dinner rolls for a few reasons. They come frozen in equal pieces, it is a yeast dough which makes it give off those homemade rolls vibes and you can use the same dough for savory rolls and something sweet too. How to assemble sweet cinnamon knots:

  • First things first, line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper, lightly spray with cooking spray, place the frozen rolls on the baking sheet and cover with plastic wrap sprayed with cooking spray to keep it from sticking to the dough and allow the dough balls to fully thaw and come to room temperature.
  • Mix the sugars and cinnamon together.
  • Melt butter and add a few tablespoons to the bottom of a casserole dish and sprinkle some sugar cinnamon mix to cover the bottom of the dish.
  • Oil your hands if needed and roll a strip or about 9-inch rope from each thawed dough piece.
  • Lightly dip each strip of dough into melted butter then into the sugar mixture.
  • Coat the strip of dough on all sides and tie a loose knot. Dip the top and sides of the knot into the mix again if needed.
  • Add the dough knots into the prepared dish side by side and repeat the same process with the remaining dough.
  • Allow the cinnamon knots to rise for about an hour or until they double in size.
  • Preheat Oven to 350F and bake for 25-30 minutes or until they are golden brown and fully cooked.

Why did I not know about this earlier? My husband is Russian and he loves pyroshky but I don’t know how to make them, I used this cheat recipe and he was amazed, he said it reminded him of his grandma. It was a score. Will make again for sure.
